Welcome to Rogue's first pre-season event.
We've chosen Marbella for February because while most of Europe is still cold, the Costa del Sol offers perfect winter playing conditions.
This is our chance to test the format, gather feedback, and build the foundation of our community before the official season kicks off. Let's see what we've got.

The Old Course
The Old Course was designed by Bernard von Limburger, one of Germany´s foremost golf course architects, responsible for 74 European courses.
First opened in 1968, Atalaya´s Old Course is one of the finest courses on the Costa del Sol. The wide generous fairways undulate gently between mature trees and flowering shrubs providing shade and all year colour. The frequently elevated greens can make club selection interesting and their subtle contours need careful judgement to sink those all-important putts.
Ideal for walking, the Old course offers magnificent views of La Concha and the Mediterranean, as well as lakes and streams populated by many species of water birds, including our two resident pairs of swans.
The New Course
Opened in 1990, this Paul Kring's designed course presents an intriguing test of golf.
Paul Krings has been responsible for the design of a number of European golf courses, including the prestigious GC Schloss Maxlrain in southern Germany. Set in the hills above the Atalaya Old Course, the New Course rewards accuracy off the tee, rather than out and out length. A number of the fairways and greens feature slopes and elevation changes, requiring careful shot selection.
The course provides wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, the Mediterranean and Gibraltar and thanks to its location away from busy roads provides a tranquil setting in which to enjoy your round of golf. Wildlife abounds throughout the course, including the lake on the picturesque 4th hole and there is a natural wood in the centre of the course.
Marbella's golf scene is legendary, with over 50 courses within easy reach along the Costa del Sol.
For those extending their stay, Los Naranjos Golf Club in the Golf Valley offers a Robert Trent Jones design with stunning mountain backdrops and challenging water features that reward strategic play. Meanwhile, Finca Cortesín, host of the 2023 Solheim Cup, delivers a championship experience with immaculate conditioning and dramatic elevation changes through cork forests.

Getting to Marbella and Atalaya Golf & Country Club is straightforward.
Fly into Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP), which has excellent connections from across Europe and is just 45 minutes from Marbella.
From the airport, rent a car for maximum flexibility exploring the coast, or take a direct bus to Marbella's bus station (around €8-10). Taxis and private transfers are also available (€50-70).
Atalaya Golf & Country Club sits just west of Marbella in Estepona, easily accessible via the AP-7 toll motorway or the coastal A-7 road. It's an easy taxi ride.
If you're staying in Marbella town, it's a 15-20 minute drive.
Consider booking accommodation near San Pedro de Alcántara or between Marbella and Estepona to minimize travel time to the course while still having access to Marbella's restaurants and nightlife.
Beyond the fairways, Marbella offers the perfect blend of Mediterranean charm and modern luxury.
Explore the whitewashed Old Town for authentic tapas and local wines, unwind on sun-soaked beaches, or experience the upscale dining and nightlife of Puerto Banús. The coastal promenade is ideal for morning runs, while the nearby Sierra Blanca mountains offer stunning hiking.
With year-round sunshine and laid-back Andalusian atmosphere, Marbella creates the perfect setting for building some more camaraderie.
Do I need to be a Rogue member to join the event? Short answer: no. Long answer: you can register for the event only for an extra fee. Note you can also register the overseas Rogue membership, which is a discounted fee that gives you access to the community and selected events. Lastly, if you are a member of Atayala, reach out to us, we'll figure something out.
Why so many different formats? The 4 * 9-hole format allows multiple pairings and initial rankings. Formats will be amended for future events, based on the learnings of our first event here in Atayala!
What is a Rogue-sanctioned event? These events counts toward the final Rogue Championship, in other words, rankings get updated based on the players' individual results.
